Commercial law firm Taylors, which has offices in Blackburn and Manchester, has appointed Rachel Charlton as Assistant Solicitor to work with its growing employment team.

She joins the firm from the Leeds office of DLA Piper and prior to that, she trained and qualified at Eversheds. She also has experience of working in-house within the legal department of Lloyds Banking Group.

Her new role will see her working closely with the existing employment team, which is led by Will Clayton, Taylors' Head of Employment, supporting a range of clients, and advising them on various issues, including TUPE, employment tribunal claims, advocacy, compromise agreements and general HR policies & procedures. She also advises clients on strategic employment issues, giving advice on a broad array of topics, including maternity & paternity issues and disciplinary & grievance procedures.

Will Clayton, Head of Employment, commented, "Rachel's appointment comes as a result of an increasing demand from our commercial clients for specialist employment services”.

“Whilst the team is able to assist with the general day-to-day employment issues to support the client's in-house HR teams, we are also seeing an increase in demand for our more specialist employment legal services, such as our innovative approach to dealing with TUPE and providing in-house advocacy on employment tribunals, which is very much our core offering".
